I have read a good portion of this article (Battle Hymn of Republic) and couldn’t wait to
to share with you what I have recently learned. I have wanted a more in
depth study of the letters to the churches of Revelation for some time. So,
I started by trying to research the word “nicolations”. My study Bible was
of no help. They just said that it was probably a libertine sect who used
the grace of God to indulge in sin.
However, I got my Strong’s dictionary and by hap chance, I grabbed my complete
works of Josephus. While flipping pages I found the index in the back of
the Josephus book. The word “nico” was in there. It said that it was a
Roman battering ram, or “war”.
In conclusion, my study yielded that the “nicolations” are those who believe
in the conversion of a people by conquest or war. I have used the technique
of breaking down the greek words into sections to find what the names of the
churches mean. I urge you to do so. I am amazed at how much the Lord Jesus
is telling these churches just in what He calls them.

Placed together with your gem of truth we can see more clearly what the Great Harlot of Revelation 17 looks like. For she practices the clergy’s triumph or victory over the people, and she shares or sits upon a relationship with her friends in the Beast government of the Roman Empire which today is America and Europe.
The politicians in the government use her when necessary to provide moral cover to make war against their enemies. So the Nicolaitans were the clergy who drafted the doctrine of the “just war” for Christians throughout the Empire to take up arms. I can see in a better light with your evidence just how much Jesus hated their deeds as John wrote in Revelation 2:6. I will share your letter with some other friends, who also know that while we reject, even hate the doctrine or deeds of the Nicolaitans, we must cry out to them in love and compassion to repent and turn to the true Jesus Christ who is coming in judgment against those who refuse to “love the truth” that they might be saved. The essay you enclosed is certainly an eye-opener. Since I wanted my husband’s funeral to have a “military flair” after he was KIA in Vietnam, I asked that this Battle Hymn be sung. How much we walk in darkness in this life.
Most Christians are living in and advocating the delusions of Satan’s lies. While we pass along the false teaching from one generation to another, we get comfortable in our churches and in the other groups to which we belong. Non of this is new; since the fall of man, people have been fomenting hate and false teaching about who Jesus is.
The world system does not respond to the teachings of Christ. Pray and believe with fervant hope “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
“Judge not….” “The heart is deceptive and desparately wicked, who can know it?”
Be reminded that Christ’s sacrifice took care of the problem of sin. One sin is as evil as another. If you have commmitted one, you have committed them all. Judging another for choosing abortion is as dangerous as the sin of abortion itself. Persecuting homosexuals and non-Christians in the name of Jesus does not promote the true gospel. Those practices promote self-rightiousness and the sin of pride, which is straight from hell.

As always I am happy to read your comments because you have been blessed with a deeper understanding of God’s word. The knowledge that Debbie shared is something everyone should have an understanding if what she is saying is true and should be made known to all churches so that they understand this. With your comments this is very troublesome to me because I don’t believe the churches of today realize the seriouness our world faces if we have been truly deceived in believing all the wars we’ve been in since Augustine down to now have been wrong. I believe in my heart what you are saying is true,even though it is hard to take and I understand as a follower of Christ we are suppose to love our enemies,but how do you love your enemy if they are trying to kill you and does that mean we’re suppose to let them kill us or stand around and watch them kill other defenseless people? Does that mean we were not suppose to help liberate Germany from Hitler and let him kill the Jews and continue with the Halocaust. War is wrong and killing people is wrong and if done for profit or gain then it is definately wrong,but how do you avoid it. Let people stay as they are in those countries under the tryant rulers and we stay here in Unted States and never go to no one’s aid. I have been sending one of your articles “Battle Hymn of the Republic” out to our mailing list with a forward that expresses my past experiences with the hymn. Since I am a Vietnam War veteran I have some former soldiers on my list that are either born again or being drawn by the Holy Spirit to receive our Lord Jesus Christ. For all of us, who were once fighters for “God and Country”, to admit that the Battle Hymn is deceptive, to say the least, is difficult to do. For me years ago, it came down to one simple choice, either love and obey the Lord Jesus or perish without him while all the time following a false, or as Paul says, “another” Jesus.
I hope my online book written in 1980 and current articles help you even more in understanding the greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ, his shed blood for our sins, and his glorious resurrection. There is coming a day when the Lord will return in judgment and then imprison the fallen angels who are temporarily allowed by God to rule the nations because of the Adamic sin nature of all men. Thank you for your kind comments. I have read some of your material with interest. I am also a veteran having fought in the battles in Southern Africa in the South African Air Force for 8 years. Revisionist history has made that war out as a unjust white on black war. But it was not that. We were fighting for our freedom of religion against the communist threat. The eastern block wanted South Africa because of its strategic importance (before the collapse of the USSR). So we were fighting Russians, Cubans, Chinese and other communist forces. I saw action in Angola, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Mozambique and South West Africa (Namibia). (I seldom refer to my service as those of us who fought for the South African Government are now seen as evil)

Some years ago, I opened my Bible and the Lord opened the scriptures to me about the USA being Babylon, the Great.
I have studied and written about Jeremiah 50,51, Revelation 17,18, Isaiah 47, 30, 13, etc. Sadly, we are and we are commanded to “Come out of her, my people!”.

Hello Jack: The amazing part of human nature is the ability to deceive it so easily with half truths, and subtle, and not so subtle lies. Once these deceptions get into the mind it almost always takes a couple of tons of TNT to blast it out of there.
God’s Word is very clear and easily understood. Thou shalt not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Everyone who studies God’s Word as a child of God knows that this world is not our home. We are pilgrims passing through who’s first Love is Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour. There should be nothing in this world’s system that attracts us, or that makes us think that we can be secure in its proclamations. Anything that does not include the Name of Jesus Christ as God’s only begotten Son as Saviour of the World should be given our allegiance. To do that places it above Jesus Christ and the Gospel, no matter what emotional feelings you have to the contrary.
Eve was deceived by half truths and her emotions over riding God’s Word. What her eyes saw, what her appetite craved, what her pride of knowledge desired to exalt self with, she gave her self to, and rejected what God had said. Adam was not deceived, but gave in to wanting to be with his wife rather than stand on God’s Word.
Our emotions are not to rule our lives, they can be very deceptive, and originate from the great deceiver, and destroyer of men’s lives. We are to bring every thought in obedience to God’s Word. The objective clear Word of God.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we did have a place of refuge some where in this world to hang out hat on, and to promote for future generations. One that clearly stood on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and nothing else, and that allowed nothing else. But we do not.
If anyone who is a Christian thinks that a government of the people, by the people, for the people is in any manner shape or form a Christian declaration, you are wrong, and deceived. A hodge podge of ethnic diversity, and religious diversity, and government by unregenerate people (for the very most part) to state that it can provide safety, justice, and liberty for mankind is nothing short of a denial of the Gospel of Jesus Christ period. That kind of peace and safety lines up more with what antichrist will proclaim to mankind, and not what Jesus Christ achieved for mankind by His Blood Atonement, death, burial and resurrected life.
Saying that one trust in God does not make it a reality !!! For he who denies the Son hath not the Father 1 John 2:22,23, and that is the spirit of antichrist !!!
Where is Jesus Christ, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ included in the Declaration of independence or the Constitution ???
Where do we as Christians ( however few there really were in 1776, and who were at the convention that brought forth the Constitution, or Bill of Rights), join hands with the unsaved and bring forth documents of rebellion from government authority, or ones that form a government that have nothing to do with Jesus Christ in the content of those documents that establish it ???
The Preamble of the Declaration of Independence, ( the right for man to independently govern himself. Think about that statement in the light of Scripture ), states that all men are created equal. Yet men were slaves in the Colonies, and kept slaves in the face of that hypocritical declaration for 100 more years.
Men are endowed by their Creator with the right to life ( what kind of life ?), liberty, (to do what ?), and property. Life, liberty, and property was the old revolutionary theme, included even in the radical Virginia Declaration of Rights published a month before. Jefferson preferred his own phrase, ” the pursuit of “happiness.” Now just how is the term happiness defined by men who have a ” liberty,” to pursue it ??? Take a look around you today for your answer !!!
Freedom of religion has brought us to the place where in America today every religion is deemed equal in the sight of the government, except Christianity. And a pagan, apostate system of all religions is bringing the world governments to bow at its feet, with the expectation of a world dictator to be brought forth from it to ensure the world of “peace and safety.” Hello !!!
Like it or lump it, Americans, professing Christians included in almost totality, have been from childhood brought up to indulge themselves in a country that caters to their carnal desires, and entertainment, painted with a face of Christian veneer, that the apostles, and prophets, with the testimony, and Spirit of Jesus Christ have denounced through out the Old and New Testaments. We have not died to the flesh, but rather demanded our Constitutional right to indulge in it, declaring our right to rebel against the Word of God, and justifying wars to that end.
May God have Mercy on us, and deliver us from all unrighteousness. Being salt and light in this world means to take a stand for the truth of God’s Word and whatever stands against it, no matter how it is painted to look desirable in our eyes, and good for food. The wisdom of this world is not the Wisdom of God. A confusion of “tongues” is called the Tower of Babel, not the Kingdom of God. God’s judgment is on one, and His Mercy on the other.

The sad thing is that he knows the truth of the gospel message. One night I walked into a TV program my wife was watching: a holiday special with different music groups and pastors. The speaker was giving an excellent message on why Jesus had to be born and later crucified. It was right on. So I was surprised to find out it was Warren speaking.
He knows better and will be held accountable.

Today on Glenn Beck he asked the question, can man govern himself? Of course Glenn said he could. My immediate answer was no, he cannot. The only way man can govern anything is submit himself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ! Without full submission to Christ we are destined to become drunk and intoxicated with power. Our sin nature just cannot resist the temptation to control at any cost. The only document we can rely on absolutely is the Word of God.

Hi Linda. I have written several letters to Chuck Baldwin and his friends, appealing to him to abandon his reverence for the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, as it borders on idolatry. Plus, he is a deep supporter of Augustine’s “just war” doctrine which when added to the gospel becomes another or false gospel, as Paul said, another Jesus. He has never responded. Our greatest war involves our own sin and cowering to the debauchery of the land. Although as a conservative voter and one who prays for better laws and righteous leaders I understand also our Kingdom is not of this world. People who are true Christians may still have views that may not agree with how I pray. Christians are a people and nation unto themselves no matter where they live. Calling people enemies is a strong word. Fighting words are for fighting. Is that what Christ has called us too? The word Love does not fit well with people who are in rebellion. Pray for the church world wide to see what they are really called to do before the great day of His return. Martyrdom was a call many great men of God made for the life and liberty they found in the only one who could save a man from sin, Jesus Christ. Hello Jack: The amazing part of human nature is the ability to deceive it so easily with half truths, and subtle, and not so subtle lies. Once these deceptions get into the mind it almost always takes a couple of tons of TNT to blast it out of there.
God’s Word is very clear and easily understood. Thou shalt not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Everyone who studies God’s Word as a child of God knows that this world is not our home. We are pilgrims passing through who’s first Love is Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour. There should be nothing in this world’s system that attracts us, or that makes us think that we can be secure in its proclamations. Anything that does not include the Name of Jesus Christ as God’s only begotten Son as Saviour of the World should be given our allegiance. To do that places it above Jesus Christ and the Gospel, no matter what emotional feelings you have to the contrary.
Eve was deceived by half truths and her emotions over riding God’s Word. What her eyes saw, what her appetite craved, what her pride of knowledge desired to exalt self with, she gave her self to, and rejected what God had said. Adam was not deceived, but gave in to wanting to be with his wife rather than stand on God’s Word.
Our emotions are not to rule our lives, they can be very deceptive, and originate from the great deceiver, and destroyer of men’s lives. We are to bring every thought in obedience to God’s Word. The objective clear Word of God.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we did have a place of refuge some where in this world to hang out hat on, and to promote for future generations. One that clearly stood on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and nothing else, and that allowed nothing else. But we do not.
If anyone who is a Christian thinks that a government of the people, by the people, for the people is in any manner shape or form a Christian declaration, you are wrong, and deceived. A hodge podge of ethnic diversity, and religious diversity, and government by unregenerate people (for the very most part) to state that it can provide safety, justice, and liberty for mankind is nothing short of a denial of the Gospel of Jesus Christ period. That kind of peace and safety lines up more with what antichrist will proclaim to mankind, and not what Jesus Christ achieved for mankind by His Blood Atonement, death, burial and resurrected life.
Saying that one trust in God does not make it a reality !!! For he who denies the Son hath not the Father 1 John 2:22,23, and that is the spirit of antichrist !!!
Where is Jesus Christ, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ included in the Declaration of independence or the Constitution ???
Where do we as Christians ( however few there really were in 1776, and who were at the convention that brought forth the Constitution, or Bill of Rights), join hands with the unsaved and bring forth documents of rebellion from government authority, or ones that form a government that have nothing to do with Jesus Christ in the content of those documents that establish it ???
The Preamble of the Declaration of Independence, ( the right for man to independently govern himself. Think about that statement in the light of Scripture ), states that all men are created equal. Yet men were slaves in the Colonies, and kept slaves in the face of that hypocritical declaration for 100 more years.
Men are endowed by their Creator with the right to life ( what kind of life ?), liberty, (to do what ?), and property. Life, liberty, and property was the old revolutionary theme, included even in the radical Virginia Declaration of Rights published a month before. Jefferson preferred his own phrase, ” the pursuit of “happiness.” Now just how is the term happiness defined by men who have a ” liberty,” to pursue it ??? Take a look around you today for your answer !!!
Freedom of religion has brought us to the place where in America today every religion is deemed equal in the sight of the government, except Christianity. And a pagan, apostate system of all religions is bringing the world governments to bow at its feet, with the expectation of a world dictator to be brought forth from it to ensure the world of “peace and safety.” Hello !!!
Like it or lump it, Americans, professing Christians included in almost totality, have been from childhood brought up to indulge themselves in a country that caters to their carnal desires, and entertainment, painted with a face of Christian veneer, that the apostles, and prophets, with the testimony, and Spirit of Jesus Christ have denounced through out the Old and New Testaments. We have not died to the flesh, but rather demanded our Constitutional right to indulge in it, declaring our right to rebel against the Word of God, and justifying wars to that end.
May God have Mercy on us, and deliver us from all unrighteousness. Being salt and light in this world means to take a stand for the truth of God’s Word and whatever stands against it, no matter how it is painted to look desirable in our eyes, and good for food. The wisdom of this world is not the Wisdom of God. A confusion of “tongues” is called the Tower of Babel, not the Kingdom of God. God’s judgment is on one, and His Mercy on the other.

If you showed even the smallest interest in engaging in an honest two-way conversation I would consider continuing to receive and respond to your tracts. But like most religious pinheads you have no courage or confidence to consider alternative ideas or to explain or defend your own. It must surely be that you know you are unable to defend your absurd and irrational beliefs and fear the exposure to the weakening effects of mine on your bizarre world view. Pity for you. I had so much hope for you at first.
It is not too late. Just give me some indication that you are open to discussion and I will welcome receiving, reading, and responding to your claims. But without some opportunity to debate you I must regretfully ask that you please do not continue to send me your silliness.

The sad thing is that he knows the truth of the gospel message. One night I walked into a TV program my wife was watching: a holiday special with different music groups and pastors. The speaker was giving an excellent message on why Jesus had to be born and later crucified. It was right on. So I was surprised to find out it was Warren speaking.
He knows better and will be held accountable.

Today on Glenn Beck he asked the question, can man govern himself? Of course Glenn said he could. My immediate answer was no, he cannot. The only way man can govern anything is submit himself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ! Without full submission to Christ we are destined to become drunk and intoxicated with power. Our sin nature just cannot resist the temptation to control at any cost. The only document we can rely on absolutely is the Word of God.

All very interesting, but false teachings have been a part of organized denominational churches from the first century until today. We do not need to be afraid, but we do need to cling to the teachings of Jesus. “Pray for your enemy, pray for those who despitefully use you, if a man steals your coat, give him your cloak….” His words are the only true gospel. Hi Linda. I have written several letters to Chuck Baldwin and his friends, appealing to him to abandon his reverence for the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, as it borders on idolatry. Plus, he is a deep supporter of Augustine’s “just war” doctrine which when added to the gospel becomes another or false gospel, as Paul said, another Jesus. He has never responded. I am still hoping and praying that he will soon awaken to the danger he is in spiritually speaking. Your brother in Jesus. Jack
Our greatest war involves our own sin and cowering to the debauchery of the land. Although as a conservative voter and one who prays for better laws and righteous leaders I understand also our Kingdom is not of this world. People who are true Christians may still have views that may not agree with how I pray. Christians are a people and nation unto themselves no matter where they live. Calling people enemies is a strong word. Fighting words are for fighting. Is that what Christ has called us too? The word Love does not fit well with people who are in rebellion. Pray for the church world wide to see what they are really called to do before the great day of His return. Martyrdom was a call many great men of God made for the life and liberty they found in the only one who could save a man from sin, Jesus Christ.
